‘Scarlet Begonias’ brightens Bethlehem Pike

Karen Phelps named her shop Scarlet Begonias in honor of her favorite song by the Grateful Dead. She was fortunate in her taste in music, and her business has benefited from it. The Dead recorded many other classic songs, but it is hard to imagine a successful boutique called “New Speedway Boogie” or, heaven forbid, “Friend of the Devil.”
